Zorn worked primarily in watercolors during the 1880s. With virtuosity, he portrayed reflections and other light effects in images of everyday situations. The model here is Emma Lamm, who married Zorn in October 1885. The watercolor was painted the same year, quite possibly on their honeymoon, which took the couple via Vienna and Budapest to Constantinople. The viewer is looking up, at an angle, at Emma with the light behind her. The sun shines through her Japanese parasol with its painted decoration.

Anders Leonard Zorn was one of Sweden's foremost artists. He obtained international success as a painter, sculptor, and etcher.
Among Zorn's portrait subjects were King Oscar II of Sweden, and three American Presidents, Grover Cleveland, William H. Taft, and Theodore Roosevelt.
At the end of his life, he established the Swedish literary Bellman Prize in 1920.

1881年毕业后到英国、西班牙、意大利、法国及巴尔干半岛等地旅行作画，在巴黎和伦敦逗留期间受印象主义绘画的启发，开始研究光与色的关系。自此以后，他的画面清新明朗，笔法畅快。
他最初以一个水彩画家的面貌步入画坛，笔法轻快，色彩清朗，造型准确。《直布罗陀海峡风景》（1882）、《乞丐》（1885）、《夏天的娱乐》（1886）、《爱情之神》（1888）等作品充分反映出他在水彩画领域的成就。
1888年后转作油画，很快成为欧洲知名画家。善於用阔大豪放的笔触描绘对象，追求画面的光感和色彩变化，画法松动而畅快。
佐恩油画选
1896年，他回到莫拉，给瑞典绘画的发展带来了新的活力。他的风景画和风俗画（日常生活）通常描绘他所熟悉的瑞典乡下生活。他常常选择裸体农妇为题材。
一些评论家认为他的蚀刻版画比他的绘画作品要好，但佐恩并不这样认为。《农牧神和仙女》是他雕塑作品的代表作。
他的名人肖像画包括格罗弗·克利夫兰总统、威廉·霍华德·塔夫脱总统和西奥多·罗斯福总统。
在他的故乡莫拉（Mora， Sweden）建有佐恩博物馆[1]
