Current pharmacological challenges of Treatment-Resistant Depression Approximately 30% of Major Depressive Disorder patients suffer from Treatment-Resistant Depression. The gold-standard method for treating depression is pharmacotherapy, which includes the use of antidepressant medications either alone or in various combinations. Treating depression is a challenge and there is a demand for novel therapeutic strategies. In this special issue, we are interested in receiving submissions related to switching antidepressant strategies and adjunctive strategies, pharmacogenetic tests, managing treatment-resistant depression during pregnancy and the postpartum period, new research directions focusing on synthesizing medications with a faster onset of action, advances in evidence on psychedelics, and the search for non-monoaminergic neuronal targets.
