Recently, a white-eared night heron (Gorsachius magnificus) was spotted at Shimen National Forest Park in Guangzhou. This marks the first documented sighting of the white-eared night heron in both Shimen National Forest Park and in Guangzhou.The white-eared night heron is a national first-class protected species in China, with a very limited global population and distribution area. They prefer to inhabit dense forests in mountain valleys, hiding during the day and becoming active at night.
